Credit Score Basics

What is considered a good credit score?

Credit scores are generated by considering all of the factors on a consumer's credit report including account balances, pay history, types of accounts, and more.

750+ Are considered excellent. A smaller percentage of the population has a credit score this high.

700+ Are considered good. Consumers with 700 above get better interest rates and may qualify to buy a home.

625 is the average residential renter’s score.

550 and under is often a critical indicator of non-payment on accounts.

No credit score indicates someone has not established a sufficient credit payment history or their credit accounts have become inactive or closed.
